My name is Shane Burke.

My handicap is 4.

I started golfing in 1993 with a 21 Handicap. Through years of golfing my handicap improved but it wasn't until I put a green in my own back yard (2005) that I perfected my short game, dramatically lowered my handicap and won 2 first place titles in our WMGA Golf League of 80 men.

Q: What the heck is a Shanachie? Exactly HOW do you pronounce that?

A: Shanachie (or Seanachai in Gaelic) means "storyteller". Long before television, cell phones & radio...the Shanachie would travel from town to town telling of legends and events. Their main tradition was that of bringing the news of the land to the towns people. The Shanachie served a vital role in preserving the ancient Irish heritage, passing it from generation to generation. Shanachie is pronounced SHAN (as in "Shannon") - A (like 'uh') - KEY.

The short game covers 62% of the strokes in an average round of golf and 43% of a round is just putting!
